Membership Categories

Student

  • Potential Resident (P.R.):- A student pursuing studies in the field of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) that will lead to the requisite qualification for Resident Membership or what was previously called Full Membership. Fee$600
  • Potential Affiliate (P.A.):- A student pursuing studies outside the ICT field and as such will not be eligible for Resident Membership on completion of said studies. Fee $500

Affiliate

Person qualified with a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in non-computer related discipline nor currently working in the field of computing or ICT industry but having interest in such; or a person not so qualified but having at least 6 years experience working in any field outside of computing and ICT industry but with interest in such. Fee:$4000


Professional

  • Intern: Person working in ICT without a undergraduate degree or certification Fee:$4000
  • Non-resident: Persons working in the field of computing and ICT industry for up to 6 years being certified by at least one of JCS accepted certifying bodies. Fee:$6000
  • Resident: Person qualified with a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in computer related discipline and who is currently working in the field of computing or ICT industry or a person not so qualified but having at least 6 years experience working in the field of computing and ICT industry and certified by one of the JCS accepted certifying bodies. Fee:$6000 
  • Academic: Person who is employed fulltime by a college or university and is involved in teaching or research in computing & ICT fields. Fee:$5000
  • Retiree: Person who is no longer actively working in industry or at a college or university. Must provide proof of age, employment history and area of interest.Fee: none.

Corporate affiliate

  • Any registered company operating in Jamaica. Fee$25,000
  • Any Teaching/Learning institution. Fee $10,000

Fellow

The membership category is attained by award only. The award will be by JCS governing Council; either by recommendations from Council members or by application from existing membership to the Governing Council, for consideration. The Council in their deliberation for the award will consider the body of work in contributions the potential awardees has made in the ICT industry.

For recommendation from Council membership; each nomination for Fellowship must done in writing and be seconded. This must be reflected in the minutes of any Council sitting. The intent to nominate does not need to appear on the agenda for the meeting in which the nomination is done.

For application from membership, the application is to be done by any full (professional or academic) member in good standing and be supported by petitioning signatures of at least 2 members also in good standing.  


Distinguished Fellow

The membership category is attained by award only, for members with continued membership of 10 years or more. The award will be by JCS governing Council; either by recommendations from Council members or by application from existing membership to the Governing Council, for consideration. The Council in their deliberation for the award will consider the body of work in contributions the potential awardees has made in the ICT industry, to the growth and development of the JCS and any significant contributions to the general society at large.

Honorary

This membership category is reserved for non ICT professional or ICT professional who may or may not be necessarily domicile in Jamaica but who have made significant contribution to the ICT industry or the JCS.

This membership award is active for 1 year only and is made by recommendation to the Governing Council for consideration
