JCS 2012 - 2013 Administration’s Vision

To present the Jamaica Computer Society (JCS) as a viable umbrella group for representation of Value Added Resellers (VAR's) and IT professionals as stakeholders with express interest in the sustained development of the Information and Communication Technology industry in Jamaica, attractive to upcoming generation IT professionals and IT enthusiast.

Visions pillars:

  1. Engage corporate entities, especially VARs, for membership in JCS and encourage involvement in organization activities through personnel and financing. Fine-tune value proposition for VARs to reach C-level and technical personnel as well as others within organizations thru JCS stature in electronic media access and events.
  2. Promote certification as a knowledge worker empowerment tool. Regular skills upgrade opportunities and exposure through monthly members meetings (MMM) and banner events (BizTech Knowledge Forums). Affiliation with vendor academies (Microsoft, Cisco, etc) and vendor-neutral certifying bodies (CompTIA).
  3. Linkages with Government policy-makers (CITO, MICT, PIOJ, etc) and Academia (MSB, Utech, NCU, CSEC, etc) to influence policy, curriculum and research direction as well as umbrella representation for ICT VARs and professionals.

Encourage the development and use of technology to help build community programs (e.g School and community competitions).

Emphasis: Engaging younger professional (students included) for membership and arrange possible internships through HEART/NTA or NYS
