E-Lancing: Create Job Opportunities & additional Income (28th June 2012)

aundreDate: June 28, 2012
Venue: Hotel Four Season (Lundh Suite)
Speaker: Mr Andre Brown
Time: 6:30 pm

As at 2009, Jamaica's youth unemployment rate stood at 27.3 per cent more than twice the national rate of 10.6 per cent. We are now left to find alternative means of creating job opportunity or even an additional income to simply make two ends meet.

For June's Jamaica Computer Society monthly meeting we will be looking at E-lancing as a job opportunity. This is in keeping with efforts by the Government of Jamaica in collaboration with The World Bank and other sectors to provide e-lancing opportunities for unemployed youth across the island.

Our speaker for the June edition of JCS Membership Meeting is Mr. Andre Brown. Mr. Brown has been working as an e-lancer since 2010 with organizations such as Freelancer IT Consultant & Service Provider as a Programmer & Systems Engineer and with the Government of Ontario.

Andre is a graduate of the University ofTechnology, Jamaica and holds a BSc. in Computing and Information Technology. He has an excellent understanding of software, systems design, deployment and support. Mr. Brown's professional training coupled with years of experience combine to make him a valuable asset to any IT project in the virtual market.
